Editorial Policy
How we create trustworthy content about drinks and alcohol.
Our standards
- Research: drink production rules and classifications are checked against official regulations and recognised trade bodies (for example appellation rules, the U.S. Standards of Identity for distilled spirits, the Scotch Whisky Regulations, and Mexican standards for tequila and mezcal).
- Health content: information on standard drinks, drinking guidelines, alcohol poisoning, medications and support services is based on public-health sources including NIAAA, CDC, NHTSA, SAMHSA, the NHS, UK Chief Medical Officers' guidance and the WHO. It is general information, not medical advice.
- Practical testing: recipes are made and tasted before publication; tools are tested for accuracy.
- Plain language: we explain jargon and avoid snobbery.
- Balance: where experts disagree or evidence is limited, we say so.
Responsible content rules
- We do not target people under the legal drinking age and use an age confirmation on entry.
- We do not encourage excessive, rapid or competitive drinking, or present intoxication as desirable.
- We do not claim that alcohol has health benefits or improves social, sexual or athletic performance.
- We include alcohol-free alternatives and safety information wherever relevant.
- We clearly state that people should never drink and drive.
Independence and advertising
Global Spiritory is independent. We don't accept payment, free products or other benefits in exchange for coverage or recommendations. Advertising is served automatically by Google AdSense and is kept separate from editorial content. If we ever introduce affiliate links or sponsored content, they will be clearly labelled.
Updates and corrections
We review our guides regularly and update them when rules, guidelines or facts change. Each article shows the date it was last updated. If you spot an error, please email contact@globalspiritory.com — we investigate every report and correct confirmed errors promptly.
