About Global Spiritory

We help curious adults understand, choose and enjoy the world's drinks — with honesty, clarity and a firm commitment to responsible drinking.

Our mission

Wine lists, whisky labels and cocktail menus can feel intimidating. Global Spiritory exists to make the world of drinks understandable for everyone of legal drinking age: how drinks are made, what the words on the label mean, how to taste, serve and pair them, and how to enjoy them without harm.

We believe knowledge leads to better choices — drinking less but better, understanding what's in the glass, and knowing when not to drink at all.

Who writes our content

Our guides are researched, written and edited by the Global Spiritory Editorial Team. Facts about how drinks are made and labelled are checked against official production rules and recognised trade bodies, and every recipe is tested before it is published. Health and safety content is based on published guidance from public-health bodies such as the U.S. National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), the CDC, the NHS and the World Health Organization, and is reviewed regularly. Read our editorial policy for how we research, fact-check and update articles.

Our principles

  • Adults only. Our content is intended for people of legal drinking age (21+ in the USA). We never target or appeal to minors.
  • Responsibility first. We never glorify heavy drinking, encourage drinking games or promote alcohol as a way to improve health, mood or performance.
  • Independence. We don't accept payment for recommendations or publish sponsored reviews. We recommend styles, regions and categories rather than pushing specific products.
  • Accuracy. We cite recognised sources and correct errors promptly.
  • Funding. The site is funded by advertising (Google AdSense), which keeps every guide and tool free. Advertisers have no influence on our content.
